The files are limited to 5MB right now and the link to each prototype is valid for 30 days. The email you’ll receive after uploading will also give you the option to remove the prototype sooner. The uploaded RP file is deleted from the server at the same time as the generated prototype.

[W]hile user stories and use cases are definitely similar, there are important differences between them. Each serves a distinct purpose, and I think they both have their place on a well-run software project.

Requirements 101: User Stories vs. Use Cases

Sehr pointiert fasst Alastair Cockburn die Diskussion zusammen:

Why is a raven like a writing desk?, asked Lewis Caroll in “Alice Through the Looking Glass”. Because each begins with ‘e’ (is the accepted answer)

What’s the difference between a user story and a use case?, asks almost everyone. — silence follows — (because there is no accepted answer)

In A user story is to a use case as a gazelle is to a gazebo, I concluded that the answer is: after the first three letters, they have nothing in common.

I tried drawing a few diagrams and even a wireframe, and it turns out the basic drawing interactions are just as good – in some cases even better – than what I’m used to in Omnigraffle and Fireworks.

When I first held an iPad I knew it would have significance to a web designer as a sketching tool. It’s portable, connected, and friendly, and with the apps that have emerged since launch we now have many options to choose from based on what needs and wants we might have. I’m reviewing three apps: Adobe Ideas, Draft, and Sketchbook Pro from the perspective of a web designer, focusing on tasks such as layout sketching.

…und ist (selbstverständlich) die bessere Axure Version:

It also includes a number of UI enhancements that the PC version doesn’t have yet.

  • Widget Properties pane containing a new formatting tab
  • Redesigned interactions case editor dialog
  • New formatting toolbar with location and size

IDEO Method Cards show 51 of the methods we use to inspire great design and keep people at the center of our design process. Each card describes one method and includes a brief story about how and when to use it. The cards are divided into four categories: Learn, Look, Ask and Try, making it easy to reference, browse, sort, and share the cards.

The beta has [almost] all of the features from Axure RP 5.6 for Windows including shared projects. It also has a number of UI enhancements like a new properties pane and redesigned interactions dialog.

Known Issues:

  • Safari compatibility has not been fully tested. If you notice anything in prototypes that do not work in Safari, please let us know.
  • iWork Pages crashes when opening the generated specification. Word is required to open the specification. But once saved in Word, they do open in Pages.
  • Shared projects can be stored on a Windows (SMB) network drive or SVN server, but not a Mac share or through https.

Performance tuning is in progress.

The beta expires April 15, 2010. A valid beta will be available until the final release of 5.6 for Mac so your work will not be interrupted.
